Building Towards a Decentralized Data Economy: Acentrik joins the Gaia-X Hackathon and Minimal Viable Gaia-X (MVG) Demonstrator powered by Ocean Protocol
Acentrik joins the Gaia-X Hackathon and the Minimal Viable Gaia-X (MVG) Demonstrator powered by Ocean Protocol. Acentrik will be featured within the “Compute-to-Data & DLT” hack track hosted by Ocean Protocol and deltaDAO AG to feature privacy-preserving and data sovereignty features for enterprises in a decentralized operating environment.
Acentrik is a decentralized data marketplace built on Web3 networks, to provide the right tools and solutions for enterprises to harness and monetize their data. Powered by Blockchain Technology and utilizing Ocean Protocol, Acentrik is fully compatible with the Minimal Viable Gaia-X (MVG) demonstrator and the Gaia-X Test Network.
In the Gaia-X Hackathon, Acentrik demonstrates that individual enterprises and data spaces can be built on top of an open-source backbone infrastructure, ensuring interoperability with the nature of the platform being a decentralized application (dApp).
Being blockchain network agnostic and multi-chained, this opens more opportunities of utility for enterprises — should they want to create their own networks to integrate with the platform or achieve compatibility with other decentralized networks.
During the Hackathon, by publishing a data asset on the Gaia-X Test Network, Acentrik also displayed the possibility of having encrypted metadata, establishing confidentiality in service offerings and descriptions. This is achieved by exercising access controls on the metadata of the data assets, showing a strong use case for enterprises in the Gaia-X Community.
The MVG was developed by deltaDAO AG, showcasing Gaia-X Federation Services built on Distributed Ledger Technology (DLT), such as the Gaia-X Portal, Gaia-X Federated Catalogue (FC), Data Contract Service (DCS) and Data Exchange Logging Service (DELS). deltaDAO demonstrated that Ocean Protocol provides most valuable features for the Gaia-X core functionality today, enabling a decentralized data economy in line with the Gaia-X vision: an open, transparent, decentralized digital ecosystem, where data and services can be made available, collated, shared, and monetized in an environment of trust.
Acentrik Data Marketplace is a data marketplace for enterprises to monetize data in a decentralized way — upholding data sovereignty, custody and transparency through Blockchain Technology. Built on Ocean Protocol, Acentrik enables enterprises to grow by use cases within and cross-domains, creating value and wealth in enterprises’ data.
Now in its Beta phase, enterprises can try the features of Acentrik such as Compute-to-Data — which gives data consumers permission to run compute jobs with approved algorithms on data providers’ private data. Everything takes place with data staying under the data owner’s control.
Pilot use cases are planned to be onboarded and implemented during the Beta phase and the Gaia-X Hackathon, which serve to give users a keener understanding of harnessing their data through Acentrik, achieving cross-domain business decisions in the most secure way possible.
About Ocean Protocol and Gaia-X
Ocean Protocol’s mission is to kickstart a Web3 data economy, giving power back to data owners and enabling people to capture value from data to better our world.
Ocean Protocol already supports a wide range of functionalities that the Gaia-X Federated Services (GXFS) aim to provide. It also works well with Self-Sovereign Identities (SSI) and Verifiable Credentials (VC). It offers a functional, fully open-source foundation to develop Gaia-X towards a fully-fledged data economy in accordance with European values. Ocean Protocol might allow the Gaia-X community and emerging European Data Economy to save years of development and integration time.
Ocean Protocol was named one of 2019’s Hottest Startups by Wired and featured in Harvard Business Review, MIT Technology Review, and Forbes.
deltaDAO AG, located in Hamburg, is the first Ocean Protocol engineering, integration and consulting company, by Ocean Protocol community members. We are working closely with BigchainDB GmbH and the Ocean Protocol Foundation to achieve our common mission to kickstart a European Data Economy. We are a Gaia-X member active in several working groups and initiatives. deltaDAO is a co-organizer of the Gaia-X Hackathon, responsible for the “Compute-to-Data & Distributed Ledger Technology” track where we, as Web 3.0 specialists and integrators, build towards a Minimal Viable Gaia-X with the other Gaia-X community members.
